Before beginning an assignment, you will learn about the person, their routines, the household, the support plan, and what will be expected of you. When an assignment requires a particular skill or process, we show you how to do it before expecting you to perform it independently.
Assignments Are Matched Thoughtfully
We consider your availability, experience, comfort level, travel area, personality, and the needs of the family. We do not believe every available employee should automatically be sent to every available client.
You Have Someone to Call
Caring Companions are supported by a Family Advocate who helps coordinate services, communicate with the family, and respond when needs or circumstances change.
Communication Goes Both Ways
We expect honesty, professionalism, and dependability. You should also be able to ask questions, raise concerns, and receive clear information without feeling that you are on your own.
Training That Continues After Orientation
The Colorado Homestead Care Institute provides the preparation behind every Caring Companion assignment. Training is not something we rush through before placing your name on a schedule. It is how we help you enter each home with confidence.
Required training, meetings, care-plan briefings, and client-specific preparation are treated as paid work.
You should arrive knowing who you are supporting, why you are there, and what a successful visit should look like.

Established Schedules
Whenever possible, Caring Companions receive consistent client assignments and established days and hours. Familiarity creates greater stability for the client, the family, and the Companion.
Availability-Based Matching
We discuss your available days, desired hours, travel area, household preferences, and family commitments before proposing an assignment.
Meaningful Work Blocks
Whenever possible, shorter visits are grouped into sensible routes and geographic areas so your workday is practical rather than a collection of scattered stops.
Flexibility Without Chaos
You will have an opportunity to consider whether a proposed assignment is a reasonable fit before being matched. Flexibility should respect your life, not require you to remain available for everything.
That Includes Your Family
We expect Caring Companions to be dependable, communicate honestly, and honor the schedules they accept. We also understand that children become ill, school schedules change, emergencies happen, and important family moments matter.
Our goal is to build a workplace where people communicate early, support one another, and are treated like human beings—not interchangeable names on a staffing list.
Employment With Real Structure
Caring Companions are W-2 hourly employees. We are building policies that recognize the full work required to support a client—not only the minutes spent inside the home.
Paid Required Training
Required orientation, Institute coursework, meetings, supervision, care-plan briefings, and retraining are recorded as paid work.
Paid Documentation
Required notes should be completed while clocked in, not later at home as unpaid administrative work.
Travel Between Clients
Travel between scheduled clients during the workday is treated as paid work time, and approved business mileage is reimbursed under company policy.
Employee Protections
Caring Companions receive applicable paid sick leave, overtime protections, regular payroll, and clear timekeeping expectations.
Holiday Recognition
Designated holiday assignments include additional compensation, and holiday coverage will be voluntary whenever staffing allows.
Cancellation Protection
Qualifying short-notice client cancellations may include cancellation pay or route protection when another assignment cannot be provided.

Training, documented competencies, experience, and dependable performance create opportunities to qualify for personal care, memory support, higher-attention assignments, and awake overnight work.
